Concasarea umedă și uscată într-o linie de spălare a foliei PE

Wet crushing and dry crushing solve different problems in a PE film washing line. The correct choice depends on feedstock contamination, water-loop capacity, downstream separation, and the moisture state expected before densifying or pelletizing. Water in the cutting chamber can cool and flush the cut, but it does not turn a granulator into a complete washing system.

Wet vs Dry Crushing: Decision Summary

Factor de decizie Crushing uscat Crushing umed
Alimentare tipică Clean production film or pre-sorted scrap Post-consumer film entering a designed washing line
Cameră de tăiere No process water is added Controlled water injection cools and carries loosened dirt
Downstream need Dust collection and controlled dry conveying Drainage, screening, water treatment, and mechanical dewatering
Riscul principal Heat, dust, wrapping, and abrasive contamination Poor water control, overloaded screens, slurry carryover, and corrosion

What Dry Crushing Does Well

Dry crushing keeps the material and cutting chamber out of the process-water loop. It suits clean edge trim, rejected rolls, and sorted industrial film when the next step does not require washing. The system still needs stable feeding, sharp knives, an appropriate screen, dust control, and a plan for light film that can bridge or wrap around moving parts.

Dry operation is not automatically gentler on the machine. Sand, glass, metal, and compacted soil can damage knives and screens, while heat from repeated cutting can soften film and reduce output. A pre-shredder or metered conveyor may be needed when bales are dense or film pieces are too large for consistent granulator feeding.

What Wet Crushing Adds to a Film Washing Line

A wet granulator introduces water at the cutting chamber. The water can limit temperature rise, reduce airborne dust, and move loosened surface contamination toward the next washing stage. Its value comes from integration: the discharge must flow into separation and washing equipment without flooding conveyors or sending excessive solids back into the water loop.

Wet crushing is not a substitute for sorting, friction washing, float-sink separation, rinsing, or wastewater treatment. Labels, paper, food residue, sand, and non-PE polymers still require the correct downstream removal step. The APR PE Flexible Guidance also shows why film composition, labels, inks, and adhesives affect recycling yield and final quality.

How to Choose for Your PE Film Feedstock

  1. Describe the feed: record the film type, bale density, dirt, moisture, labels, metals, and non-PE content.
  2. Define the product: washed flake, squeezed agglomerate, or pellet feed each requires a different moisture and contamination target.
  3. Check the water circuit: confirm flow control, coarse screening, fines removal, settling or filtration, and discharge treatment.
  4. Match the cutting system: compare rotor geometry, knife access, screen area, anti-wrapping design, motor load, and actual feed tests.
  5. Measure the result: track throughput, motor current, knife condition, screen pressure, wash-water solids, and moisture after dewatering.

For a complete line, compare the granulator umed de plastic, Linie de tăiere și densificare a filmului PP/PE, and the broader PE film washing efficiency guide. Un test util al echipamentului folosește filmul real al cumpărătorului, nu materialul de demonstrație curat.

Operating Checks That Prevent False Comparisons

Compare wet and dry crushing at equivalent feed rate, screen size, knife condition, and contamination level. A wet machine tested on loose film cannot be fairly compared with a dry machine fed compacted, sandy bales. Record water flow separately from total line water use, and inspect the recovered solids so lower visible dust is not mistaken for lower total contamination.

Întrebări frecvente

Is wet crushing always better for PE film?

No. Wet crushing fits contaminated film inside a washing line, while clean industrial film may be processed more simply with dry size reduction. The decision should follow the feedstock and downstream process.

Can a wet granulator replace a film washer?

No. Water in the cutting chamber provides cooling, flushing, and limited pre-cleaning. It does not replace sorting, friction washing, separation, rinsing, or water treatment.

Does wet crushing always extend knife life?

No. Cooling may reduce heat-related wear, but mineral grit, metal, glass, poor knife clearance, and overloaded feeding can still shorten knife and screen life.
